Goalie Coach Profiles Cap Raeder
Cap
is part of the most innovative and productive goaltending staffs
in
NHL history. A precise tactician, Cap has been an integral
part of the development of several NHL star goalies for the San
Jose Sharks. Former Calder Trophy winner (NHL Rookie of the year)
and NHL All-Star Evgeni Nabakov, Vezina Trophy winner (NHL’s
best goaltender) Miikka Kiprusoff , Vesa Toskela and many more.
After
starring (All-American) at the University of New Hampshire
in 1974,
Cap went on to play for the Harford Whaler’s in
the World Hockey Association, a rival league to the NHL boasting
stars such as Bobby Hull and Gordie Howe. Cap went on to play
for Team USA in the 1976 Canada Cup (now known as the World Cup
of Hockey). Prior to his current position as goaltending coach
and scout for the San Jose Sharks, cap coached at Clarkson University
(NCAA Div. 1), the LA. Kings (NHL), Boston Bruins and San Jose.
Tony Martino:
Tony
is a fierce competitor, just ask Graeme Townshend, he had to
face
Tony everyday in practice at RPI. Tony backstopped Plattsburgh
State University to a National Title. A veteran of 7 professional
season’s, Tony won the Central Hockey Leagues Goaltender
of the Year Award in 1993.
Martino began his coaching career with the New Mexico Scorpions
in 1999 in what was then the WPHL. He led the franchise for three
seasons, during which time the WPHL and CHL merged, and compiled
a 126-66-13 (.620) record. He brought the Scorpions to the WPHL
finals during his first season behind the bench. He then moved
on to Knoxville (Atlantic Coast Hockey League) in 2003-04 and
coached the Ice Bears into the finals before heading overseas.
Martino is currently scouting for the Columbus Blue Jackets of
the NHL.
Neil Little:
A
graduate of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI), Neil went
on to
star for the Philadelphia Phantoms and Philadelphia Flyer’s
hockey clubs. Neil’s career culminated with a Calder Cup
championship for the Phantoms in 1998. Neil is now responsible
for the development of all Philadelphia Flyer’s goaltending
prospects, like Brian Boucher, Martin Houle and Scott Munroe.
Neil presence will solidify National Hockey Development’s
NHL caliber staff which is unmatched in the Goalie school industry.
